About Me

Hi, I’m Heidi.

I’m a sustainability strategist, communicator and facilitator helping organisations turn sustainability ambition into meaningful action.

I work at the intersection of sustainability strategy and human experience — translating complex issues into strategies, stories and actions that people can understand, connect with and act on.

I help organisations understand where they can have the greatest positive impact, identify and address their most material sustainability challenges, and bring strategy to life through stakeholder engagement, partnerships, programmes, storytelling and reporting.

With 20 years’ experience across sustainability, purpose, corporate responsibility and communications, I bring both strategic rigour and a human perspective to the work — helping leaders connect what happens in the boardroom with the people and communities their decisions affect.

I started my career in PR and Strategic Communications and spent 13 years in PR consultancies working with multinational companies including Unilever, ManpowerGroup, Costa Coffee and Tesco blending their corporate and consumer communications and enhancing their external reputation. I also worked with the public and not for profit sector to create campaigns that inspired behaviour change including getting more UK families to eat more of their 5 A Day and increasing recruitment of social care workers and science teachers. When working in PR, my ambition was to ground stories in meaning and create stories worth telling. Which is why I chose to work with purpose led brands such as Lifebuoy and Domestos to create campaigns that inspired people to be part of their purpose of delivering meaningful and measurable social impact, or with government departments and charities to tackle social issues and change behaviour.

I then transitioned into sustainability strategy and communications when I joined Given, the award-winning consultancy for purpose-driven businesses and brands where I worked with companies including TUI, Anglian Water and Aviva to deliver corporate communications around social purpose as well as designing and delivering inspiring social impact and engagement programmes. This new found knowledge and passion for sustainability led me on to complete the Business Sustainability Management course at the University of Cambridge and since then I have advised organisations of all sizes on their sustainability strategies, target setting and reporting, both independently and as an associate of various sustainability consultancies including Philosophy Consulting, The Purpose Hub and JustOne.

I am a member of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, a Fellow of the RSA, a member of the Reconsidered Change Hub and the FuturePlanet community of action. I also volunteer for the Epping Forest Heritage Trust advising them and helping them deliver against their corporate engagement strategy.
